Have tried by going to tools and internet options, altering things there but does not work, have been trying to access the Virgin website which requires cookies enabled, please help if you can

Just double click on the little red icon at the bottom right of your internet explorer window and it will give you a choice to allow cookies or not

Go to tools at the top of the screen while in internet explorer, left click (lc) internet options, (lc) privacy slide the slider all the way down until it says low and accepts all cookies then (lc) apply. Sorry if you have already tried this but it is all I know to do
