IE is not from yahoo. You have the "Yahoo Toolbar" that you can uninstall, though it has never slowed my laptop and it has the best anti spy ware for free incorporated within it.

Microsoft I.E. is VERY slow. It's intertwined with Windows so, of course, like everything else in Windows, it's a big system hog. As far as "uninstalling" it, good luck. When you find a way to get it completely off the drive, you let me know...! (lol) The only basic method is to go into your Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, then on the left you'll see an option entitled "Add/Remove System Components". MS I.E. will be listed as one of the components. "Removing" this simply gets it out of your Start menu, and gets the icons off the desktop. (should you have one there for I.E.) It does NOT however get rid of it 110%. It's still there, hidden in the system, though Windows fibs and says it's gone.

I use Mozilla Firefox and one of the nice things about Firefox is you can impliment other Firefox users' "plug-ins" or "extensions". These are things that "customize" the browser to fit your needs/likings. One of them is designed for webpages that are designed for ONLY MS I.E., and allows you to "Open Link in IE". When you do this - and you THINK you've gotten rid of I.E.......POOF! thar she blows!! Back up and running in typical MS fashion.

Firefox is "cleaner", more "pure", it's a very small browser that frankly has more tweakings and is much more user-friendly and more configurable for any user. I recommend to ANYONE.

Hope this helps!
