That depends on whether they are 16 and have left school (or could leave school if they haven't because they are staying on for 6th Form etc) Even if they turn 16 in say the January they wouldn't normally be eligible to work "unsociable" hours until the June of that year ie when they can officially leave school.
Also each Council has its own rules to a degree on what hours, when and in what capacity children of school age can work. It's best to contact your local Council for its guidelines. Ask for their Guidelines for the employment of children and they will e-mail you a pdf or send it out in the post to you.
A lot of pubs and restaurants illegally employ 14, 15 & 16 year olds for too many hours or after 4pm on Sundays etc without even realising that they are doing wrong.

For minors there are limits on the hours that may be worked as well as working conditions. These are both federal and state laws.
No work after 10:00pm. No using dangerous equipment, anything power driven (including driving a car.) No more than 30 hours of work per week during the school year. No climbing, all work has to be floor or ground level.
There are exceptions to these laws when it is for a family business only.
Every state is different. So check with your bureau/department of labor.

In the USA, the hours restrictions vanish once a worker turns 16. This is under federal law. Some states have higher standards. Check the Dept. of Labor web site for your state.

Do you mean night work? In the UK you need to be 18. If my memory serves me well, I think a 16-year-old can work until 10pm.

You don't state where you are from. If you are from the UK try the DTI website. It has all the answers on this subject.
