Man cannot directly predict the power of the volcano. Yellowstone is one of those random on/off areas. In fact, all volcanoes are random like that. Unless we come up with some sort of cool high-grade technology, we won't be able to predict the EXACT time of any eruptions.

They don't know exactly, they monitor it every day, but all they can say is that it's about every six hundred thousand years ago. the last time it erupted was about six hundred thousand years ago. so in the next hundred thousand it could be any day. i wish it would hurry up and blow, the suspense is killing me.

They can't predict when a volcano will erupt. They monitor it, but can't be sure of an eruption.

Volcanoes are notoriously unpredictable. Why don't you go to Yellowstone and be the first to know? Be sure to let the rest of us know right away!
