Sounds like a decent computer. Remember that your computer is only going to be as fast as its weakest link. In you configuration it would be you OS and processor. Trust me do not get media center. If you ever want to upgrade you have to do a clean install and it will run slower that home or pro. Also alienware makes good computers but they are also the most expensive. The cheapest and best way in my opinion is to build one yourself if you know how. Also what type of video card do you have. I dont see one listed above. And what are you going to be using this computer for? My advice would be to pick up a copy of computer shopper and price out the same system with some other manufacturers. Try systemax or falcon nothwest. Also another thing to consider is that alienware is now owned by dell. Take that as you wish...and no matter what advice you get take it with a grain of salt. Almost everyone has their bias. Whether it is amd, intel, nvidia, ati, etc. Also check out tomshardware.com, they are a great resource. Again stay away from media center. Good luck.

Waste of money. just get an Xbox system and dont waste money on a over-rated monster of a machine. This will in the long run cost more money to keep it up and running then what you paid for it in first place. I mean comon this thing is on stariods.. $200 per hard drive and $300 for the motherboard and the 700wat psu will run you in electric bills for sure.. Other then that its a fast machine with the power..

Great specs, the Alienware kit rocks, though a little confused with the Windows® XP Media Center Edition, makes it sound like it is a media box.

Well the package sounds good but you have missed one very very important aspect for gaming especially, and that is the Graphic card capability. Games these days need high performance VGA/AGP cards. You must go for a good separate graphic card which should have its own memory so that your compuer memory is not used. Else the update rate of graphics of game will either be effected of you will not get a good quality picture in games. However, normal VGA will do good for movies etc but not for the gams with high quality graphics. Wish you good luck

yeah very nice..
i would change the storage and system drives to raid 5.
since if they are setup to Raid 0/1 and one of the drives fail. u will lose all the information.
but with raid 5 it mirrors all the information, creates a backup in a way, it will still work as fast as raid 0/1

It sounds fine, except for a video card. That is what you want to get right! Get a dual 512Mb video card setup into it, and a Pelxtor DVD burner, and this box will be awesome!

the specs looks fine to me...a TV tuner would be nice to add and speakers also.

you need to load anti-virus, spyware, firewall softwares for protection and security reasons. you also need to have documents and spread sheet software such MS Word and Excel this is if you are you using those softwares for school or work purpose.

hope this helps

They're a bit shy with the processor. If you want to get into serious gaming get one closer to 4Ghz.
Also, you are supposed to boot off the biggest drive.
