Yes it is normal. It is probably peri-menopause. About that age I started having periods every three months. Knowing the absence of bleeding could have been for other reasons, like a cyst, for instance, I got checked by my OBgyn, and, YEP, it was only the beginning of the end of menstruation.

Hey, you never know--it could be menopause for you, especially if you started early like the age of 10 or 11----you maybe pre-menopause, or you might even be pregnant! And around this age a lot of women tend to have irregularities in their periods---but it is a good thing that you made an appointment with your ob/gyn----it never hurts to find out exactly what is going on.

Menopause is about a ten year process. So yes. And any change in periods at your age can be a signal that the process has started for you. Scant, heavier, missed, shorter, longer, etc.
An HCG test for pregnancy-blood test, not urine test, will give you a definite answer regarding being pregnant. Get one if you like to find out for sure about pregnancy.
Get your pap to make sure you're healthy.
And then accept the menopause thing...thank God for menopause!

You answered your own question. It is very possible for you to be having early menopause symptoms. The term is called "perimenopause" and can occur as much as 10 years before real menopause sets in. You can get a formal diagnosis by having a hormone panel done. If you find you are low in one or more of the sex hormones, your doctor can order bioidentical hormones customized for your unique needs. Every few years after that, you get another panel to see if your hormone needs have changed as you get closer to full menopause.

That's the beauty of bioidentical hormones. They are not a one size fits all hormone. They can be changed as you change.

You can be going thru perimenopause, which is the cycle that women your age go thru, prior to menopause. it's nothing to worry about. They have lots of herbal supplements now to help symptoms. If it worsens or persists, see your dr. They do have a test to see if it is menopause or other issues

It could either be menopause or a heightened stress level in your life. Now matter how old or young you are, if you are highly stressed out, it messes with your body, and sometimes your periods. I would check with my gyn, just to be sure.

It sounds like the early symptoms of menopause. My mom is going thru the same thing. Try estroven or something like that to help you out with your hormones because they are crazier than if you were pregnant. Good luck!

Your best bet is to go see a doctor, and determine from there exactly what is going on. At 43, early stages of menopause, can and do occur.

If anything, they can get heavier, but scantier, and more irregular is the big red flag (pun intended) to indicate perimenopause.
