I have recently been driving a vintage 440cc cruiser as a commuter bike and I am looking to upgrade to something that has more power as well as being able to carry two people. What cc should I move up to?

I don't want a crotch rocket. Just a cruiser type bike that would be good for long distance travel as well.

Harleys are nice if you want to pay that kind of price....

I would suggest a 1100 Yamaha V-star....size is managable for us women.....it has great power.....nice cruiser style.....it comfortable even on 500 mile a day rides.....ALSO, costs less with lower maintenance.....

Good luck!

Keep your knees in the breeze....shiny side up

well vintage also means less power... I rode a 550 Yamaha from Ontario to NFLD... and noticed that while two-up it lacked power... but did ride for several years. Then when a car bought my bike (crash) I used the insurance money to buy a real bike...BMW. 750cc and wow! go to all the dealerships and test out all the bikes that suit you...and test out a few that you don't like just to make sure. today's 600 are like old 1200's. so good luck. also keep in mind the 1/3 weight ratio... your/bikes. as you learn how to ride the ratio goes up(1/4...1/5..) but beware jumping too far, many guys think they can handle it till they need to make a split-second decision and pay with their lives.

I'd go for a 750 cc cruiser. Something like this:

http://powersports.honda.com/motorcycles/cruiser_standard/model.asp?ModelName=Shadow+Spirit+750&ModelYear=2007&ModelId=VT750DCA7

You'd want a windshield for all day or overnight trips.

Anything much bigger is going to be harder to handle. Anything much smaller will struggle two up.

Honda VT 1100 Shadow
Vulcan 900
If you are lucky enough to find a low mileage Honda VF 750 Magna, grab it.

At least a 750cc! bigger bikes ride alot smoother, Pass cars alot faster, and have more room for carrying two people.

Look at Kawasaki's EX500 or there new 650. They sit extremely comfortably and also look good as well.
