It was stated that in the Constitution, once Texas became a state, that they had the right to not only seceed, but to become their own contry if they so choose. Is that true?

While it would not constitute secession, the treaty by which the Republic of Texas was admitted to the Union provides Texas with the right to divide itself into as many as five different states. The Texas Legislature would have to approve any proposal to divide the state.

To become its own country would require legistation by both the Texas Legislature and the U.S. Congress.

I am all for it.

No it is not. Texas was the only state that was taken into the United States by TREATY. All other states were annexed by legislation. Prior to that, Texas was an independent republic.

Nothing was stated in the Constitution. It was stipulated in the treaty that Texas reserved the right to break up into five separate states if the citizens wanted to.

Since Texas was taken in to the U.S.A. by treaty it was agreed that it could fly its flag at the same height as the U.S. flag.

All states may fly their flags at the same height as the American Flag. If there are 2 poles and 1 is taller than the other then the American Flag is placed on the taller pole. The radicals are going to ruin this country. Texas can be divided into 5 different states but cannot secede from the U.S.

If Texas was it's own country it would be dependent on the U.S for economy etc. Most likely prices in Texas would rise because of the economy of being it's own "country". Not likely to happen
