My first son never moved and I often wondered if he'd died until one day I gave him the hicups when I had a fan pointed on my belly. I started testing him occasionally after that. If you're worried drink something cold and lie down, if it doesn't work then try cooling your belly with a fan. Only do it to test when you're worried about the baby's welfare, 'cause they don't like the cold but they also don't like mom's stress hormones so it's worth testing when you're worried.
By the way, if your baby hiccups when he/she is born bundle your baby nice and warm.

When my best friend was pregnant, she felt all kinds of movement around her 5th month of pregnancy, and then it suddenly stopped. She, too, worried there might be something wrong with her baby, but the doctor said it's a normal state of rest that the baby will develop through the pregnancy. When you are ready to deliver, the baby may not move at all for up to a week before he/she is actually born. My friend's doctor told her to do easy exercises- like walking around the block- and drink Mt. Dew to perk up the baby's movements. Hope I helped, and good luck with the new baby!
