i just recently recieved a 1980 yamaha motor cycle and would like to find the engine size to be able to find a starter any one know of a way to tell. also where to get used or new starters for these older bikes.

Jot down the serial numbers off the engine and visit a Yamaha dealer.

You can contact Yamaha. Tell them the vin # and they'll tell you what year and model # your bike is.
