Tampons are very bad for vaginal health because they prevent your vaginas natural cleaning functions, absorb lubrication needed to keep the walls of your vagina from splitting, give bacteria the perfect place to multiply and commercial tampons introduce chemicals to your vagina.
Putting a tampon in when not menstruating increases your risks of tampon-related health problems, such as infections and toxic shock syndrome, because as well as using them when not necessary the tampon will not have blood to soak up, only discharge and lubrication meaning not only irritation but significantly more vaginal splitting.
Tampons are not a good option for anyone, least of all someone your age who is at greater risk of infection and toxic shock syndrome than an adult, least of all when you are not even menstruating.
Tampons can hurt if they are put in incorrectly as too low down or put into the wrong hole it can be painful, tampons can also be felt even when put into the vagina correctly as tampons are dry wads of material it means that they can cause friction burns and drying of the vaginal walls, chemicals within commercial tampons can also cause irritation or allergic reactions.
The string can also be felt, many women find that when it moves about during the day it can become painful as the string can pull tight between the inner labia (inner lips) of their vulva (external genitals).
Tampons also expand, widthways expanding tampons can contribute to bloating feeling during menstruation and length-ways expanding tampons can expand into the already sensitive cervix, tampons also pose health risks meaning that the decrease in vaginal health can contribute to menstrual health problems such as heavy menstrual flow or menstrual cramping.
I would suggest you look at all your menstrual options, a lot of women are not avoiding tampons because of their health risks as well as other issues such as cost, inconvenience, environmental damage and social taboos – options such as cloth pads, padded panties, free-flow methods or menstrual cups, all of these can also be used when you are not menstruating without putting you at any health risk.

Very bad idea to put a tampon in if you don't have your period. There is something called TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome) that can actually kill you if left untreated. You get it from the fibers of a dry tampon that stay in your body after the tampon is removed. The fibers grow bacteria and that is how you could get TSS. It could also make you sterile.
It doesn't matter if you are still a virgin, you can use tampons during your periods and nothing will happen. It only hurts if you force it in. Read all of the instructions and try to relax. Good luck!

Do not use a tampon for any vaginal discharge other than menstrual blood! But, otherwise, when you start your periods, you can definitely use tampons. They may be uncomfortable at first, but with time and practice, you'll find the perfect size to fit you comfortably.

Why would you want to use a tampon if you weren't having a period? Tampons can increase your risk of toxic shock syndrome, especially when you are not on your period. If you do start your period and want to use one, I would advise using a small absorbency (they make "junior" ones). You should be fine, it might be uncomfortable for a minute but once it is in, you shouldn't be able to feel it.

You don't have to have your period to be able to use a tampon - you just don't have a need for a tampon without the period unless you have an abnormally heavy discharge.
It will be a tad uncomfortable just because you haven't experienced it yet.

yes you can but I would not recommend it. when you are going to take it out there will be no fluids in it and it can possibly hurt. Wait until you get your period and on the heaviest flow day.
