the account i use was an administrtor, but now its not. i had another account that was limited, but now thats gone and there is a guest account. i think the guest account is somehow the administrator. but i searched around on my computer and it said that the original extra limited account is now an administrator account, but it doesn't show up on the welcome screen. is there anyway to find out what the guest account password is?

Thanks for your help, but I figured it out. when my computer first started up, I pressed F12, then selected run in safe mode. i was able to log on as an administrator without using a password. i went to control panel and changed everything back.

You can't. You can't change any passwords unless you ARE the administrator.

BUT, if you boot the computer in safe mode by repeatedly pressing F8 when the computer is first turned on there should be an administrator account in the users list at the login screen (while in safe mode). Many people don't know it's there. If it's not password protected then you can log in using THAT account and go into the control panel -->user accounts and change whatever you like :o)

This actually happened to my brother. he forgot his administrator password on his computer. You can't change it from the limited account. you'll have to reload the software. If you search online you can find directions to do this.

You can't. Are you sure there was even an admin password set? Try logging in with username "administrator" and don't enter a password. Just hit enter.

You simply cannot. Limited accounts do not have the privilege to change admin password.

You cant as a guest log on, only as a an admistrator log on. But I suppose if you are a software genius, you could probably find ways around it.
