There was no battle at Valley Forge. Valley Forge was used as a winter camp for the American army during the winter of 1777-8 after the losses at Brandywine and Germantown which allowed the British to capture Philadelphia, after Howe decided to take the American capital instead of march up the Hudson to help Burgoyne cut off New England from the rest of the colonies.
