you should expect a lot of adjustments since long term relationships needs commitment to survive, which means you have to consider each others feelings or needs before you do something, these applies to everything from the simpliest to the most complicated thing that you have to do
you have to deal with a lot of arguments, coz the more you are together, the more you discover a lot of things about that person which you have to put up with or which you will cherish and love and be proud of....so there you go but don't be put off coz if you love that person what comes next are just the spices of the relationship as they call it..

a wedding ring like the other person said. Also love/passion, respect and trust which are all important key ingredients in any relationship really. They have to be commited of course thats why i suggest the wedding ring as it shows long term commitment. I would also like them to be a good father for my children and to be a good husband for me as well and be romantic occasionally to keeo the spark and relationship alive and going. Goodluck!

realistically? respect is number 1, and doing chores and household bills 50/50, fair enough i think.
we already have 2 kids but i'd like 2 think marriage was on the cards.
and we already have a system, he goes out weekends and i dont nag but he spends weekday evenings at home with me. nearly perfect

To be happy, but you have to still be your yourself. Don't forget who you are! Just cause your in a relationship doesn't mean you have to be sheltered. Still have friends....Friends will always be there men(or women) come and go until you find the right person. Then if you are truly happy, its time to make a decision. I do or don't!

Honesty, loyalty, friendship and passion. I would also expect it to not be perfect all the time. Every relationship has its ups and downs.

It depends on the relationship.

Marriage?
sister to sister?
father/son?
a live in relationship?

If it is the latter, I wouldn't expect any comittment, real love, or
real companionship. I would expect to use the other person and allow the other person to use me until one of us got enough of it and left.
