Don't forget Britain.
Until 1948 Britain had an empire, so extensive and dispersed, that the sun never went down on it; i.e. it stretched across all 24 time zones.
Now not as imperial it is still a super power - of sorts.

i will dispute the claims that Russia is. All of Russia's rust-bucket military kit would not win them a war like human beings might have self assurance. i might say the united kingdom because of solid economics and a powerful military. additionally, geographically, we are lots extra valuable located than the different ecu state. There are extra factors to capacity than in simple terms military tension. you will desire to look at economics, military tension, geogrpahic place, allies et al. even nonetheless the united kingdom won't be extra effective than some in some factors, we stay consistent on *ALL* ranges extremely than showing severe power in a single section. No bias, in simple terms person-friendly sense.

You put that in the past tense. You had better say which period of history you are interested in. Just about every nation of any size and some not so big too have had their moment of glory, if you can call it that.
