The chances are very good. I don't think he will right now. Maybe about 2012

Obama needs more experience -- especially in foreign policy -- and a record of accomplishment in the Senate before he can be considered a serious candidate for the presidency. Hillary (Rodham Clinton) is in first place,” said Ronald Walters director of the African American Leadership Institute. “If you have a ticket with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, you have a very powerful ticket,” Walters told BlackAmericaWeb.com Obama’s first major accomplishment in the Senate will be punctuated Tuesday with the signing of a bill he co-authored in the Senate. Obama teamed with Republican Sen. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma on a bill to establish federal searchable databases of all government contracts, loans, grants and special-interest spending, commonly known as pork.

Tommy Vietor, spokesman for Obama, said the signing at the White House is a significant accomplishment.
“This is a special event for a freshman senator who is in the minority party to pass a piece of legislation like this,” Vietor told BlackAmericaWeb.com None of this matters much since Obamba has insisted he will not run. He promised to finish out his term in Congress during his campaign. Maybe he will run next time. Oprah has already endorsed him and other are producing Obamba products. Personally I hope he doesn't. He wouldn't live a week.America is still racist.

I would not expect Obama to be a viable candidate in 2008 (although I don't think Hillary Clinton is certain to be the candidate either). I would not be surprised to see Obama on a ticket in 2008 as Vice Presidential nominee. Equally, if the Republicans win the White House in 2008, I think Obama would be strongly positioned for a run in 2012.

The major drawback he has is that no Senator has been elected President since John F Kennedy in 1960 - as John Kerry found in 2004 your Senate voting record can come back to haunt you and be used against you to your disadvantage. Following that line of thought possible Obama's best chance would be for John McCain to be elected in 2008, thus ending the cycle of failure by candidates who are Senators.

He has a very high profile and seems to be saying all the right things. His name is being tossed around a lot on many blogs as a candidate for 2008.

If he can get nominated or not, I have my serious doubts based on the popularity of other candidates. Perhaps he could be selected as the running mate of the eventual Democrat Presidential candidate.

Slim to none in 2008. Right now, the democratic nomination is nearly a sure bet for Hillary Clinton should she decide to run. Now, perhaps Hillary could choose him to be her Vice President?

Being a mulatto does not make one qualified to be President.

That's basically his only qualification for office.

I'd rather see a qualified Black man run.
