Well, I don't think you overcome it. I do think you can find ways to work with it and ways around it. If your focus is not good, you can find ways that help you to focus. Do a research online and check out ways to cope with having ADD and how to work with it, not against it. Maybe you will find some friends along the way as you do the research. Most of all you are not alone in having this.

ADHD is a disorder of certain mechanisms in the central nervous system. Here is a list of supplements. The dosages listed are for adults. For a child between 12 & 17 reduce the dose to three-quarters. For a child between 6 & 12 use one-half, and for a child uner the age of 6 use one-quarter.

1. Quercetin - as directed on label - prevents allergies from aggravating symptoms.

2. Calcium & Magnesium - as directed on label - has a calming effect.

3. Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) - 50 mg 3 times a day - calms the body much in the same way as some tranquilizers, without side effects or danger of addiction.

4. Vitamin B complex - 50 mg 3 times a day - B vitamins are needed for correct brain function and digestion. Also enhance adrenal gland function.

5. Pantothenic acid (Vitamin B5) - 100mg daily - The ani-stress vitamin.

6. Vitamin B6 (pyrodoxine) - 50 mg daily - Important for proper brain function.

7. Multi-vitamin and mineral complex - as directed on label. High amouints of all nutrients are needed.

8. Vitamin C - 1,000mg 3 times daily - an anti-stress vitamin.

Helpful Herbs:

1. Valerian root extract has been used for this disorder with dramatic results and no side effects. Mix the extract in juice (as directed on the product label according to age) and drink the mixture 2 to 3 times a day.

2. Other herbs that may be beneficial is catnip, hops, passionflower, skullcap, thyme, and wood betony.

Recommendations:

~ Include in the diet all fruits and vegetables plus breads, cereals, and crackers that contain only rice and oats. Do not consume food that contains salicylates such as almonds, apples, apricots, cherries, currants, all berries, peaches, plums, prunes, tomatoes, cucumbers, and oranges.

~ Do not consume any of the following: apple cider vinegar, bacon, butter, candy, catsup, chocolate, colored cheeses, chili sauce, corn, ham, hot dogs, luncheon meat, margarine, meat loaf, milk, mustard, pork, salami, salt, soft drinks, soy suace, sausage, tea, and wheat. Do not use antacid tablest, cough drops, perfume, throat lozenges, or commercial toothpaste. Use natural toopaste only.

Studie inicate that administrationof GABA decreases hyperactivity, as well as tendencies toward violence, epilepsy, mental retardation, and learning disabilities.

myself, I use marijuana. I find that if I smoke a joint it slows me down enough where i can focus on one thing and kinda of "zone out " on my task. Lists are allso good. I was diagnosed with ADHD at a young age. i was on ritalin, cylert, and a host of others that had side effects that i didn't care for ( loss of appitite, feeling like a "zombie", depresion).
now i dont know how old you are and i am in no way telling you to go smoke some bud... thats just what works for me.

You go to the doc and let them give you a med for it. Its not overcome, its treated.
