Its based on talent, except when vincent wasn't voted off the first time he showed one of his pieces. That guy is crazy!! I think it has to do with what the judges think is "in" right now, or what will be the next big trend....I think Michael has it, he has been a favorite....his designs are always beautiful.

i'd say its 50% based on talent and 50% based on american's likes and dislikes. I don't think the producers will keep someone who most watchers don't like to watch.

Geoffrey is talented but an asss!
Uli is talented but not edgy enough.
Laura is talented too but her designs are the same...
