Television was a lot more popular. You can see the gradual impact of computer and the Internet by noticing that ABC after 20-some years has moved Monday Night Football to ESPN, a cable station. Pro sports are not being watched as much and are going to have to reformat or collapse.

Typing was on type writers! And my penmanship was much better. I can see my hand writing skills getting worse with dis-use.

Our views of "racy sex" were shaped by Penthouse and Hustler. Now it's a click away and a LOT more nasty than ever before. I worry that our young girls will see that as The Expectation. Evidence is "Girls Gone Wild", girls who've grown up with the Internet and it's skewed version of what sex can or (maybe) should be.

Music was more Album oriented. Artists created theme albums. This is not to say that many artists were "one hit wonders" though, lol.

Some philosopher said that religion was the opiate of the masses. Then some wag said television was the opiate of the masses. Now it's the Internet.
I am sure Pavlov or BF Skinner would be amused to see us clicking mindlessly on a solitaire card game or Answering empty questions or trolling myspace -- like empty-headed chickens numbingly clicking at a button hoping for some kind of reward.

Our entire news source was the television news and newspapers. The media told us what was important and set our agenda.
We didn't have instant access to the BBC or Blogs for alternate news sources or points of view.

Oh ... and I dated more.

as a senior I miss the quiet old times. We would be outside when it started to get dark and chit chat with friends in the street. Now I am on the computer and chit chat with unknown people but it does help with not feeling alone.

Toilet papering houses was popular,disco was on it's way out,rap was unheard of,Dallas was the prime time champ,and most kids were getting hooked up at the arcade.

We had a life, we went out and did things, did things around the house that needed to be done, went outside and got fresh air.

but you didn't get to interact with such a wide breadth of folks.
