It a double edged sword. We have benefitted so much from technology yet the general population has kept pace with it. We blindly use it yet don't understand it's implications.
I find it disheartening that people don't make eye contact with each other or have conversations with the check-out person because we are plugged into our phones or ipods. Marketing makes us think we must have all these fun little trinkets and we mindlessly go out and buy them then complain we can't afford to change the oil in the car or buy our kids new back to school clothes.
In general humanity and in particular the U.S.'s intensly consumer based culture has it's priorities upside down. We find ways to distance ourselves from everyone and everything and then are suprised or disgusted when the guy next door gets arrested for pot or murder or whatever.
I hope we come to realize before it is too late the importance of staying connected to our families (of choice or origin), our neighborhoods and our fellow human beings wherever they may be.

Whats the alternative? Sure we can "go back to basics" to a world that has less or no tech, but would you want life without a cell? Television? Telephone? Cars? The idea is to improve our lives and make things easier. U dont HAVE to use it but...
