I love James Stewart. I watched It's a Wonderful Life because I was young and didn't have cable, and I thought it was going to be tripe, but he plays dark, complex characters.
I can't identify many actors willing to take chances like he has, from my own age group, except for publicity junkies, who don't count. Anyway, he did a lot of work with Alfred Hitchcock later in life, and he should have gotten more credit before he died.

Tom Hanks. The man can do serious in depth roles and then follow up with a light funny romantic comedy. Got to admire that in an actor.
