It depends on whether you like to do your own thinking or not, using all the facts available to you. If you take what politicians say at face value, and don't research and dig for truth, you will not be in control. I see many Americans who do not take advantage of all the resources that are available to them. They just vote or think along party lines, naively believing their interests will be represented, and believing what seems like convincing points of view in the media.
If we the people were really in control, everyone would be screaming for revolution.

I am completly in control of my mind and thoughts. Politics only has control over the actions of those thoughts through laws.

The people in power control our minds--wait a minute, I've got to check with some professional in the media to see if I can be allowed to think that. We have the best ideas money can buy.

Media has us in there control. If politics owns the media, then yes we are in control. We are. Try to picture yourself as a donkey being tazored and baited by carrots.
