I mean real wrestling should be included, but this WWF crap and questions about Hunk Hoogan and the Disintegrator, that's not sports. That's soap opera material. If you can't read about it in the sports pages of the newspaper, IT'S NOT A SPORT!!!

I agree with you. It should be in the "entertainment" category. Especially since the mid to later 80's it's gotten really showy and commercial with outrageous characters and soap opera-y plots. I like the older wrestling from the 60's, 70's and early 80's. At least then, even though we knew much of it was fake, they tried to pull it off as sport. This is not a cut on wrestling, it's just more entertainment than sport.

It is a sport all though a well choreographed sport. People tend to associate wrestling with the sports entertainment of RAW and Smackdown. A lot of the WWE wrestlers were high school, college and Olympic wrestlers. Look at Lashley, Brock Lesner, Charlie Haus, Kurt Angle and Shelton Benjamin (all college wrestling stars, some All Americans)

Yes, its both a sport and entertainment. The wrestling manuevers are real ( I'd like to see you try them or get out of a hold). But its also entertainment....meaning the cheesy soap opera-ish storylines. Look at stars like Kurt Angle, Lashley, Charlie Haas, Shelton Benjamin, Brock Lesner. THese are guys with actual wrestling backgrounds olympic, collegic an All American.

it all depends on your definition of the word sport. you watch the show and they have athletes, and yes wrestlers are athletes. they train and work out just like baseball players, and they entertain you either at home or at the arenas, where other sports teams play and you pay a price to watch them. it may not be a sport to some people but it is, just like saying soccer or tennis sint really a sport so much as it is an exhibition of athleticism. to me they are all sports just in a different form.

good question. 'wrasslin' is staged, the outcome is predetermined, therefore, it is NOT a sport. it's more like a play. i'm not trying to cut it down, i'm just stating a fact. a sport is a competition, pro wrestleing is not a competition, who wins and loses is decided by the writers well before the match.
