it depends on what situation they are in and what mood they are in- also depends if they feel confident and comfortable with the people they are with. Circumstantial really!!!

Most definitely so! That age-old notion that only a female can be a motormouth is ridiculous. Some people are major talkers, others are not. It has nothing to do with gender! I know some Mr. Chattybox's that can put Miss Chattybox to shame!

Oooh YES!! Most of the gossip around here is carried by the blokes. Walk past any two or more in a group; if they are blokes it won't be cars or taxes it'll be gossip. Walk past a group of women and the chat will be about children, medical conditions or hairdos.

The common misconception is men only talk 2000 words a day. the fact is we can only say 2000 words that we would allow people aside from our friends to over hear.

yes , at least some around me, once they start chatting , they are so full of opinions that no one else can get anything in,if one tried.

Definitely, I know for a fact there are men that gossip more than women. Most men love to hear themselves speak, we say they are boastful..women we say, oh she is quite chatty.

My wife certainly seems to think so. She is always complaining that every time we go somewhere I stop and talk to people and don't know when to shut up. Odd enough, she complains that I don't talk to her at all. I do, I just don't think she realized how much we talk because we talk about routine stuff.
