That would depend on your budget and socket. if you are using a socket 939(amd)...then I would go with a 4200 2.2Ghz for $183 or a 4800 2.4Ghz for $288 from newegg.com. Both of those processors are very fast. Then if you have a 775(intel) I would recommend the 940 3.2Ghz for $193. All of the above processor's are dual core. However do not go with the intel just because it is 3.2 because it has a much lower front side bus speed...800 vs. the amd's at 2000

speed of processor is becoming more and more irrelevant these days.
as the chip manufacturers are increasing bandwidth (the amount of info processed per clock cycle) and putting 2 or more chips on one die (dual core)
a 64bit dual core chip will process 4 times faster than a 32bit single core chip of the same speed
