Don't waste any more time, call a lawyer, immediately. They are breaking the law, and will get serverly punished for not giving you the job, and not hiring you, because of your race. In the meantime, keep looking, there is a job out there for you. The unemployment rate, is the lowest it has been, in the past 20 years. Keep bothering them, be persistant, and you will find something. Good Luck..

I never got a job applying over the phone and I would be cautious in thinking you can. Hopefully this is not a racial/cultural issue rather a person who just is not aware of the discrimination laws of the USA.

When you go for a job, have a current resume (vita) that details what jobs and education you have. Be able to leave the copy. Make sure there is a current/accurate phone number and mail address. Do not put your age, race, marital status, health status, etc., on the resume. List the employer, address, phone number, dates to/from you worked there, job title and description, name of immediate supervisor, and why you left the job (moved, better employment, etc.)

When you go for a job interview, dress the part. Do not go in jeans and a teeshirt, etc. It is okay to ask when the decision will be made and if a week has gone past that date, I wold call and ask if the decision has been made.

Good luck

if that is true then your civil rights have been violated. you can take legal action. Your rights are guaranteed by the constitution. I find it hard to believe any employer would take that kind of risk. but then again there are a lot of those who just may try it.. those are some strong charges to bring. better be sure before you accuse someone of it and do not use that as a crutch just because you can't get a job. I live in Michigan and we have the highest jobless rate in the US. Do not give up keep at it. You just may have to pound on a lot of doors. Good luck

Before jumping to a conclusion, I would suggest calling the hiring manager back and asking him/her why you didnt get the job? This will give you a better idea of what the real issue was. For example, the company might have decided to hire someone internally (company's prefer to hire within) or maybe they decided to not have the position since they needed to re-allocate the funds to another department (this happens frequently).

Stop using Yahoo! Answers and use this time to search for a job you want. Maybe consider changing your profession to something more useful like maybe a Grocery Manager or a Cashier at Safeway or Albertson's of any one of those huge grocery industries.

you need to be persistent. Do not give up. And if you think you were discriminated against, do not let them get away with that. When you find a job that you are interested in and you know they are hiring. Keep up dating you application twice a week if necessary. good luck!

That's too bad. Keep trying. I don't believe most places are like that. Good Luck.
