The ovaries take turns ovulating-releasing an egg. The egg attaches to the uterine wall and blood surrounds the egg to nest it and make it safe for conception with sperm. If there is no conception, no pregnancy, the egg will be released and you will have your period.
If only one of your ovaries, the right or left, is the only one releasing an egg, then you would get a period every other month.
Verify this is the case for you with your gynecologist.
When you hope to have a baby, at some point in your life, it may make things a little difficult for you.
If a gynecologist supports that this is your "problem", again, when you go to plan for a child, you will be spared some disappointment or worry if conception is not easy for you and your partner.
See the gyne and get some peace of mind.

For you, yes
I had a friend who had periods once a month that lasted for two weeks and that was normal for her.
I was lucky, four or five days starting every 29 days.
What is not normal is if the pattern suddenly changes for you.

It helps if we 'ditch the word NORMAL' because there is no such creature as 'normal.' There are only 'averages,' and to achieve an average you must measure a spectrum of experiences and then do some arithmetic to achieve your 'average.'

I knew a nurse who had - on average - a period every 18 months, give or take.

It would be wise of you to seek medical advice on this.

It's not normal. Missed periods could be a result of a lot of things, but if you are missing them regularly, best to consult with a gynecologist.

your periods may not settle into a regular pattern for more than 2 years. depending on how long you have had them, it might be or not.

hope this helps
