my mom hates my style. everytime we go somewhere she always says go up stairs and change your clothes. she says i cover up to much. and that i have no color in my life cuz i dont wear bright colors like orange and pink. that draws attention and i dont want attention from everybody. i just want to look cute. she should be happy im not leaving the house looking like a ghetto girl.

I did the same thing Sheri did. I compromised with my parents. If we were going somewhere as a family, they got to "pick" my outfit. If I was going out with my friends, I got to pick it. We also had the agreement that anything that I wanted that they didn't want to buy, whether it was because of the price, or the style, I could buy it for myself out of the money I earned.
I'm with you about looking like a ghetto girl. She should be happy that your tastes run more conservative and not trashy. While I can see her wanting to add more color (if you dress in nothing but neutrals) I would think that she would be glad that you aren't trying to draw attention, since so much attention these days is the wrong kind. Sit down and talk to her about a happy medium. Maybe you can keep your style, and add something small and colorful to your look without going overboard.
Good luck!

Yes you are right. My mother was the same way when I was growing up. She is now in her mid 60's and dresses like a teenager. It is embarrassing. I just had to sit her down and make an agreement: When I went out with friends, and to school, I would dress the way I liked. When going to church or somewhere around the family, I would agree to have her advice on what looked well.

It didn't always make her completely happy, but it did stop some of the conflicts.

GOOD LUCK

Hehe. My parents think my style is too casual.
It's always been jeans and a T-shirt.
Never gave a damn, got a new one today =)
It's usually the oppsosite, you know, girls showing too much of their bodies, and parents complaining =/
But whatever. People have different tastes. Your taste may change with time. Don't force it.
