I am not a rasist but it seems to me that a lot of white people disagree with spanking their children.You guys seem like we are tring to kill our children and we are abusing them.We are just teaching them a lesson. I am 14 years old and my mother would spank me for doing things wrong and I thank her for that because if she didnt I would be out here running the streets, getting high,cussing her out,among other things. All I am tring to say is that giving your child a spanking for doing something wrong and they know they are doing wrong they deserve one. I dont understand why you guys think your children will grow up hating you. And yes i undersatnd not all childern need spainkings

For one thing there is a big difference between just spank the child and beating them. you should never hit the child out of anger as some parents do and that is not right either.
yes spanking is alright and but sometimes the child does not learn from a spanking and the parents need to take away there privileges like tv show and internet time or anything like that. I do not agree that parents should beat the child or abuse them that is a crime and they should be in trouble in doing this to there child.

Spanking by using your hand over top of the clothing is okay in my opinion... spanking with a belt and/or bare bottom is wrong. Theres a difference to me. When I hear the word "spanking" I think of the belt... because thats what I got growing up... and it didn't make me a better person, it made me a resentful person toward my parents. My father for doing it to me, my mother for not stopping him. I wish my "spankings" had been just pops on the butt...

Ok i am white and i do agree to spanking to some degree. but when you really think about it, it doesn't solve anything I mean i spank my child when necessary but with my children it seems to work putting them in time out or taking away there favorite toy or game if that doesn't work then of course they will get a spanking. Of course now days you have to watch out for DHR ,and i do not agree to people hitting there child upside the head are slapping them i have seen that in public places and i think that is horrible

I am a white girl and i have 2 boys ages 6 and 3 . I try a time out and if that doesn't work then on occasion i do give them a spanking , one good swat on the a** has never killed them. I never spank first ,but if they need a spanking they get it . maybe I'm an exceptional whitey !!!!!!!

I am white and I have spanked my son. Nothing hard, just a tap on the hand or the bottem. I only do it when I have warned him verbally several times.
My parents always spanked us. We knew not to get out of line. It's sad that nowadays parents are afraid of spanking. I would rather see a parent out in public spanking a child (after being warned verbally) than seeing kids running around like a bunch of wild animals.

I'm not racist either, but I know what you're talking about, I see it all the time.
I personally would have no problem with spanking my children if they needed it, or popping them in their mouth if they were to cuss at me or anything like that.
Now, I don't believe in actually abusing your child (meaning really beating them over any and everything), but you have to show them who's boss, and that there are consequences for their actions. And you're right, not all children need spankings, some just need to be yelled at or have privileges taken away from them, but for some that just doesn't work.

It ok... I do not beat the crap out of my kid, but a lot of the time you do not have to spank, for me a look does the trick. I have a 15 year old and and he tried to jump up in my face and I knocked him down, that was 8 months ago I have not had any problems out of him since. My 8 year old all I have to do is take something away from her and that does the trick. Now I spank if i have to. But I do not use cords, tree limbs brooms to do it, that abuse.

I am a white man and believe that spankings are usually a necessary part of disciplining most children...
I believe that about 8 - 10 is as old as you want to spank them..

I'm white and agree with spanking as a last resort, but be careful. Just had a friend lose her daughter who is 8 for spanking her on the butt to DCFS. Her ex-husband found out and called the school who called the police...and apparently, spanking is illegal--they called it capital punishment.

OK. I dunno who decided that spanking our children was taboo, but I'm white and I'll freely admit that I intend to spank my child should she deliberately disobey something i have told her to do, or not to do, if the rule was put into place for her safety. time out can only do so much. Not all of us are supper nanny. My parents spanked me and i turned out fine. As long as it's a discipline measure and not an abusive thing. I see nothing wrong with it. Besides hitting is such a strong word.
