Just want to put a couple clarifications up:

A) Installing more than one firewall is not going to cause problems. It will help, and yes there can be issues, but most of these are known issues that are easily handled but configuring the product. You may not know what programs are out there, but you can always learn what it is and use it correctly.

B) Firewalls DO help protect your computer from virus. When you have monitoring of your communications ports via a firewall you can grant access to both incoming and outgoing connections. Many common virus out there are simply downloader applications that put the real nasties on your system with all kinds of tricks since it is installed on the system unabated. If you can stop just these from downloading you are in good shape, and hence, a virus was stopped.

AND YES THERE IS NOTHING BETTER THAN AVG FOR GETTING RID OF THE VIRUS, NORTON AND MCCRAPPY CONSTANTLY LET VIRUS GO, OR FAIL TO FIND A VARIATION. FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, AVG HAS FOUND VARIATIONS OF KNOWN/UNKNOWN VIRUS PRIOR TO THE DEFINITION EVER EXISTING

Not really. Most software products you may be looking for may result in serious damage to your computer, but this doesn't mean a 'free firewall' is not better then a 'paid firewall' or a 'paid firewall' is better then a 'free firewall'. I suggest to try these two and see how you like them for a few days as they are 'trial program' ; fully functionable and gives better results then some of many popular programs in the sense [popular doesn't mean they are better] .

Take this tip and click the following link which will lead you to my question and answer page for a similar answer I asked and answered earlier as well. While this may make no sense, look at the answer from "Clinical Psychiatrist, France (is it there name or from that city)

Hi,
If you are running Windows XP ,then it includes SP2 and u must be having windows Firewall in buillt.
So you need not to download any 3 rd party firewall which might conflict witrh your system.

To Check you have SP2>Go to system Properties
Right Click on My Computer>Properties>General Tab
eg. Microsoft WIndows XP Home Verion 2002 SP1/SP2/No Sp

If you dont have Sp2,download it from www.microsoft.com

To feel strong guard effect, you should use an internet security suite such McAfee internet securit suite I've used... that includes anti-virus software, spamkiller, privacy service, and firewall!.... I feel satisfaction with the internet sec suite. enough? And you know? Many companies on this earth using McAfee Virus Scan Enterprise version?? 'cause that is trust !

I oftentimes reccomend AVG unfastened paired with the Zone Alarm unfastened Firewall for a unfastened sercurity gadget. AVG unfastened would not comprise it rather is very own firewall, and ZoneAlarm is exceptionally great.

you probably already have a firewall, if you install another you're going to have big problems.

let me make this clear, i'm not being rude.
FIREWALL DOES NOT PROTECT YOUR COMPUTER FROM VIRUSES.

For viruses, you need ANTI-VIRUS programs. the best one for free out there is AVG AntiVirus.
