I used to live in Norway and could usually find the cheapest airfare with Kelkoo, then book it direct with the airline. It searches several airfare sources in Norway simultaneously.

Ok, Bergen (BGO) to Edmonton (YEA) is quite expensive during that time, so I also checked from Oslo and Stavanger since you can usually get to those cheaply from BGO.

BGO YEA comes in 9900 NOK
SVG YEA at 9200 (probably not worth only 700 NOK savings)
OSL not cheaper.

So I tried from the main airports that you can usually get to relatively cheaply from BGO, which are LON, FRA, AMS, CPH. However, there's nothing cheaper (when it's all added up) in this case.

So then I added Calgary, Vancouver, and Toronto to the search criteria. With Toronto (YYZ) and Vancouver (YVR), once you add a hop from there to Edmonton with WestJet or whoever is cheapest, you don't do better than the 9900 NOK fares from BGO to YEA.

However, from Stavanger SVG to Calgary YYC, Kelkoo found 8200 NOK, and fro OSL it found 7700 NOK.

When you add it all up, though, with a hop from Calgary to Edmonton, and Bergen to Oslo or Stavanger, you might be just as well with the first fares.

KLM Norway sometimes have offers, but usually Kelkoo will show those in their search if they're available. It wouldn't hurt to try them to see if they have a web-only deal not showing up elsewhere; NWA.com sometimes sell the exact same (KLM) flights for less. Links below. I sometimes booked KLM flights from NWA.com while living in Norway, and could get them sometimes $250 cheaper on a transatlantic roundtrip--same flights.

The charters aren't on in winter (from one dreary cold destination to another dreary cold destination usually isn't a big seller in winter). I priced the other gateway cities with a breakdown for you--and it's not worth it (in my opinion) to break the trip up this way. Hopefully my info will help with your decision.

From Bergen I know you can get a flight to London or maybe Amsterdam and then you should try for a charter flight to Edmonton but I have a feeling you are going to have to fly to Calgary. If you can go through Amsterdam though because it is so much easier then trying to get from one airport to another in London. I flew AirTransat from Calgary to Amsterdam this summer and it was cheep and not too horrible or a flight. I think a travel agent in Bergen can get you a flight. check SAS though too because they do have flights to Vancouver and some to Calgary.
