I can't see any valid reason why you shouldn't! I think you would make an awesome bartender. For one, you know what I like, and also you have the essential requirement of being a good listener -because after a few drinks I'm sure I'd start blabbing about all my woes. Then I'd demand another drink but you'd wisely cut me off, in a discreet, tactful manner that would allow me to hold on to my dignity, thus ensuring my continued patronage to your fine establishment (because of course it would have to be a very swanky bar :)

I have bartended/waitressed in bars for 12 years. That just about all I know. I LOVE IT. I will tell you-it's not for everybody. It's really not for most people. If you want then try it for a couple weeks and go from there. If you're in a marraige or relationship-it's gonna be hard. It will probably boil down to the job or the man.

Why not? Bartending is great. I used to be one and I loved it. You have to love to live at night though, it can get tiring after a while.

you might take too much of a liking to the product you serve. That is, 'cause you're around it all the time. I've known this to happen to bartenders.

Provided you work only at the Ritz Carlton, it would be OK - some of the other Bars attract "Low Life".
