My friend is 19 and dont get out and socialize. He is a good guy but i fell like he is missing out on so much. Every time me or someone else tries to get him out of the house he says no. He hangs out with a few friends (no girls) and thats it. My question has 2 parts one why do you think he is like that and two how do i (in a good way) tell him to get off his a*s and have fun?

He is 'like that' because not everyone is the same as you...that's what makes this a great planet. And what you consider fun, may not be what HeE considers fun.

He may have some phobias, wide open spaces, people etc.

Ask him what HE wants to do for fun and try it his way. (Okay, he may be the worlds most boring human, but if so: THAT'S OKAY)

You can't make anyone have fun. He is probably just a really shy person and is afraid of meeting new people. Try taking him somewhre quite the first few times. Tell him it will just be a few of the guys and thats it.
If that doesn't work, next time he invites y'all over olet him know you are going out. If yall stop going to his house, he will have to get out if ever wants to see you again.

You can't make him socialize and its not your responsibility. Stop swimming upstream and banging your head against the wall. He is not ready to go out much. He enjoys his few friends and he'd enjoy your friendship if you didn't push him. Leave him alone about it. If we could make people have fun, the world would be happy and positive. Abraham Lincoln said, "People will be as happy as they want to be."

He loves the special attention he gets from you when you try to drag his butt out the door. If you ignore his dysfunction, the next time you are visiting him, cut short your visit and leave WITHOUT inviting him out. Do that over and over again and soon he will be asking YOU if he could tag along...
(Then tell him NO!)
