I am assuming that you already have it hook up?
Call home depot and tell them that you have it hooked up and could you bring in the shades and replace them instead of the whole fixture.
You may have to replace the whole thing, but try just the shades first. They can take them out of another box. Make sure you have your receipt.

No offense meant but the first place i'd go with the problem is back to HD plus I'd alert Hampton Bay.

Take them back.....They'll replace them or refund your money.
