The other day someone said to me ' that's rite pissed on my chips'. As i had no idea what this meant and how to reply to it, i just said ' what ever your preference, but personaly i prefer vinegar'. Which he found funny.
Turns out it meant - that's disappointing.

What's the funniest, strangest or weirdest saying you've come across?

My Nan used to say "lean on your lunch" still have no idea what that means...

And "who's coat is that Jacket" which is a favourite of the Welsh. I used to work for a welsh company and they all said it. Always used to make me laugh and they could never understand why...

"Go to come back"

I used to live and work in the West Indies on boats and sometimes the local deckhands would disappear for a while. When we would ask someone "Where's Napoleon?", we'd hear "He gone to come back" which we finally figured out meant - he won't be away long!

Another saying which drives me CRAZY is when people say " I could care less" which is the exact OPPOSITE of what they mean.(The correct saying is " I could NOT care less!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Thanks - I feel much better now having vented.

When describing someone who is a bit slow, my Gran always says they're "like a fart in a trance"! Nonsensical but hilarious! That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

When someone was going to do well, or make an entrance and someone else gets in there first, they say that the other person 'stole my thunder'.
