I think the item you are looking for is actually sold as a mole deterrent so I suggest you check before buying that the product would deter snakes as well. Most larger garden centres sell them or you can search on line. Some good sites are -

Not sure about a snake deterrent, but similar devices are commonly sold as mole and gopher deterrents. Check gadget catalogs, Home Depot, online.

My mates mrs seems to get all her vibrating tools from a shop called Anne Summers - he says since she went there his snake has been no where near her

i actually have one that i made myself from my vibrator and bicycle pump and a panel from my great grans best friends sisters sons outdoor solar lantern,i never have any trouble anymore on my high rise with grass snakes,so it just goes to show you dont have to spend a fortune to deter the snakes..good luck!
