The question is and the answers should be between Seaver and Palmer.

Jim Palmer - W/L 268/152 - W pct .638 - SO 2,228 - ERA 2.86 - 8/20 wins - W/L WS 4/2 - 3 Cy Youngs - 6 WS - HOF

Tom Seaver - W/L 311/205 - W pct .605 - SO 3,640 - ERA 2.86 - 5/20 wins - W/L WS 1/2 - 3 Cy Youngs - 2 WS - HOF

The only difference between the two is that Tom Seaver has more wins

i don't have a favorite. Both finished with career ERA 2.86, but Seaver pitched about 800 more innings. Palmer had more success in the post-season and finished 6 of his 17 post season starts. So, by a very narrow margin, and giving post-season success more weight to your arguement, I'm picking Palmer for game 7.

Well, gimme the points, I'm the only one that knows the right answer. How can you go against a pitcher who was 8-3 in the playoffs with 6 complete games?

Both were great.

When looking at players, especially pitchers, from the past and comparing them (something I love to do - lots of fun and can make for great conversation), I think the best thing to do is take a few of their most dominating seasons and compare them. Them at their best.

So, for each, I've taken their best 3 seasons.

Seaver
1969: 25-7, 2.21 ERA, 208 SOs
1971: 20-10, 1.68 ERA, 289 SOs
1973: 19-10, 2.08 ERA, 251 SOs

Palmer:
1972: 21-10, 2.07 ERA, 184 SOs
1973: 22-9, 2.40 ERA, 158 SOs
1975: 23-11, 2.09 ERA, 158 SOs

So, after I went through that exercise... it might have been futile. These are pretty similar numbers.

I would take Tom Seaver, because when he was dominating, he was virtually unhittable. He could come in a strikeout 15 in any given game.

Great question! Both were dominating pitchers, but I'd have to lean towards Seaver. And if I were in a game 7, I wouldn't have either of those 2 pitching. It would be Bob Gibson.

I would take Seaver slightly over Palmer. I will admit bias as I am a lifelong Mets fan. But they were both great pitchers.

I like Palmer but if I get to choose a pitcher for game 7 that pitcher is Black Jack Morris.
