I signed up for SELL-GSM.CO.UK – Barbara Hill a year ago and it seemed legitimate, but now I've discovered it to be a scam. I sent them my bank acct no. and routing no. for direct deposit can they use it to withdraw money? So far nothing has happened

yes, they can withdraw over payments on that. they can take out as much as they have put in, and in some cases take out more.

No Company in the world is allowed to withdraw or reverse the money in your account w/o ur permission.

Even if a bank who has the power to withdraw money has to take your permission first and give you an explanation in writing on why they are doing it along with an apology letter for the mess-up.

If you notice such transactions , then both your company and your bank is liable for damages to you for accessing and conducting the transactions w/o ur permission.

So most likely nothing will happen. But incase if you are too worried then close that account and open up a new account for your satisfaction.

I guess technically they could because they have your account number, but they we could get into a lot of trouble if they did.
Now days if someone has a copy of your check or just your routing number they can go on the internet and purchase almost anything. Its crazy.

Only the agreed amount direct debit. If you've arranged that yes they can.
