Turn off the modem for 1 minute. Turn it back on. Now, on the computer, click on "start", on the bottom left hand corner of your screen. Click on "control panel." Click on the icon "Network Connections." RIght click on the icon "Local area connections" and a box will appear, choose "disable." Do the same thing on the icon next to it called "1394 connection." Wait 1 minute. Then, right on the icons again and choose "Enable" this time. Wait a few more minutes and then connect to the internet. If this doesn't work, Right click on "local area connection" and click "repair". I have sbc dsl for a 3 years now and this process mostly works. If not, you need to call sbc dsl tech support. They will walk you through it. Sometimes, the problems lies also with their network connections. They've told me before that they were repairing it that's I couldn't connect and access the internet.

if the broadband link stays orange, it means PPPoE settings is not properly configured in the modem ( it might be that you reset the master account password ) . if broadband link blinks orange, it means it's a possible line problem. that's the time you'll check your cables & filters.

To fix your connection issue :

access 192.168.1.254 in IE browser , then click ran system set-up wizard , type in the system password ( if u forgot your modem's password , click the link i forgot PW ) , click submit . In the "Set Up Your HomePortal 1701hg " page, click next . Then, int the time zone screen, select the correct time zone , click next. In the "Set up Connection info screen" type in your ATT / SBC email address & password ( master account , include the domain ) in the userid & PW fields , click next to connect . If broadband link turns green , it means you're connected.

this could be a problem with the fiters, best way to test the line is disconnect all other phone sockets, take the modem to your master socket, and plug in a filter, then the rj11 cable and that into the modem and see if the dsl light goes soliid then u know if its a filter, or wall socket.

You have a problem with the DSL/ADSL link to your service provider, or the RJ21 connection is faulty, also make sure you have filters where the phone service is bieng used.
