The supposed sin of homosexuality is held to so strongly by "the church, the christian establishment but not the others. I mean why is it alright that I can work on Sunday, wear polyblend socks and why can't I go out and stone a betrothed virgin who doesn't yell loud enough when she is raped?

The church supports what is convenient. Mosaic law says that it is an abomination for a man to lie with another man. It also says that it is an abomination to eat clams, crabs shrimp lobster, oysters, catfish, halibut, bear, rabbits and many other things. All of those made sense 4000 years ago when eating those things could kill you if they were not harvested or prepared correctly. For a man to lie with a man could give either of them an infection that would kill them within months and also infect anyone else they choose to lie with, man or woman. In this day and age proper food preparation prevents death form most of those foods and condoms and medicine prevents death and infection from most transmittable diseases. The church just wants to control people and controlling your food wouldn't work, but sexuality is something they can beat the drum over and people will listen. It doesn't have to make sense, you just have to frighten people.

Jesus preached many sermons where he said you have heard it said, thus and such and giving an example of what the Old Testament said do, then he finished it off by saying, but I tell you, thus establishing his law and doing away with the Old Testament law. However he did reinstate many laws, such as we are not to commit murder. His Apostles were left with the responsibility of writing down the will of Jesus and if you read Romans chapter 1 you will find a condemnation of homosexuality.

What I do not understand is why do homosexuals try to change Christianity? Why not just go with a religion that accepts them the way they are without requiring them to change?

You are trying to inject logic into a field that is not based on anything sane...good try, but to use logic in an insane world is of no value. People who disagree with this statement are so brain washed, their cells have gone out with the bath water. Why try, you will make no converts here, and those who argue against you will make no converts either. The only good thing that can come from a question like this is to show how impaired the negative answerers truly are. They have nothing to add to any conversation, are too stupid to utter one sentence without checking it out with their pastor (who is equally in the dark), and then can only quote scripture written by very old, befuddled men who sat in judgement of everything that they did not agree with...seems some things never change, doesn't it?

This is a common misconception the law is not about homosexual love but about anal sex. Mosaic laws where a protection against disease and since anal sex is the leading vector of the spread of STD's anal sex by the law of Moses was forbidden.
Other mosaic laws are not looked at as valid because in this day an age the diseases they protected us from have been eliminated by refrigeration or other safety practices.

SETFREEBYJESUS uses an extreme right wing translation of the Bible to get his 1Corr 6:9 quotation. The bible was written in ancient Hebrew and ancient Greek. Neither language had a word for "homosexual" and yet in his translation, they are condemned. I think he us using the King George Bush version of the Bible.

Anyway, many right wing Christian leaders use fear to control their members, and fear of homosexuality is a big one. People fear what they don't understand, and these right-wingers will do anything they can to keep their flock from understanding.

to answer the question, I guess it's because they just wanna use the innocent bible to justify their hatred of homosexuals. some even say they do God a favor by killing homosexuals. it's the society...

SETFREEBYJESUS, who wrote the bible you just took your verse from? In mines, I don't see homosexuals and sodomites!!!
either, the one who rewrote your bible is a bigot and added it, or you just made up that to give you reasons...
in mine it's "neither the unjusts, the shameless, the idolaters, the adulteress, depraved, thieves, people of bad customs, greedy, drunks, people who insult or rapacious persons won't inherit the kingdom of God... 1 Corithiens 6 v9... Bible de Jerusalem...

You have to take into account that these are far from intelligent people. Their hateful, and make the perfect Dupes for the Christian right, because they never had an original thought in their life.

I would just like to point out that in Christianity one merely has to "accept Jesus" and they are saved. It is the easiest religion to practice, since obligation is non-existent. Islam requires total devotion to Allah, Judaism requires total obligation to God, Christianity...not so much. Christians like to pick and choose their commandments.

I've seen plenty of Christian women wearing pants and eating shellfish.

Pure, unadulterated hypocrisy.
