I dont think there is a way of narrowing down your chances as such, everyone who enters has the same chance, but i enter around 100-200 competitions a week. Ive won lots of prizes including £2500, a playstation 2 and a video ipod among other things. The best advice i can give is to search the web for competition sites and forums and enter as many as you can!!

Most people lose most of the time . If you write a slogan sit on it for a while , first ideas are the ones that occur to everyone else. Write a list of things about the product and look for connections . The best slogan I ever saw was " Feather your nest with a little down " Look for unusual angles on things . Family opinions can be dodgy , no one wants to offend when asked about slogans . Check out winning lines to see if there is a certain type of tie breaker in fashion . Study professional adverts , they have seconds to catch your attention and they employ the best ad agencies to get it right . I have won a few but come nowhere in many many more ! Search for small local comps with less entrants , Comps with a skill factor should in theory give you more chance of winning. Don't do comps continually , you get stale thinking up slogans , I thinkit is a good hobby for those dark winter evenings when the telly is rubbish . When you see a comp in a mag cut it out straight away and put it in your comp tray , that way you are less likely to misplace it or forget it . Remember it is a hobby so don't become obsessed with winning , post them and forget them is a good motto . Good luck .

Don't do any more, have you tried these stupid quiz shows on tv at night? the one where the question is so simple like what is 2+2 you and I know it is 4 but the poor buggers that are phoning non stop trying to get on the show at £1 or more a time. For those who get through if they answered the question above as 4 you bet the answer is wrong. God knows what the dam answer is and how the hell they say it is wrong all the time.
Do you notice how they don't answer calls a lot? some people think that no one is calling in untill the phone rings, truth is there are loads of poor buggers calling in, people who are desparate to win some money as they are out of work etc, and they ring in as they think they know the answer is 4, so as they ring in they get a recorded voice telling them sorry your wrong try again, and they keep trying and their bill goes crazy. But they make it look as if no on is phoning in, but as I said before there are loads of poor people calling in. They let a call through when it suits them or when they have stolen enough money off people who cant afford it. Funny when the timer starts, all of a suden a call comes in at the last second. Another thing that gets up my back is that stupid smile and chat they put on, these morons want hanging because what they are doing is bloody terrible and out of order what they are getting up to. They must h,ave found a legal loophole in what they get up to. Come on British justice sort these idiots out and close them down and try and get them to recompence by giving all their money to charities.
Lastly, any decent quiz show will explain how they came to that answer, but these morons won't, why? because they know they are wrong, get them to explain why 2+2 is not 4 or 22 as some would say. Next time terrorists want to bomb somewhere try these morons, they are getting awway scot free.

I used to subscribe to a monthly magazine called Competitor's Companion. Details are available from the website www.competitorscompanion.com. It taught me an enormous amount about technique and how to narrow down the odds and I became far more successful as a result. In addition,it alerted me to many competitions which I would never have known about otherwise.

Nothing wrong I used to think the same way, if you concentrate on the product & think of a catchy phrase this would help also try joining a club that literally has nothing but comps to enter, get a good stack of blank postcards though & stamps. don`t give up one day it will just all fall into place. If you are really keen.

If the competition is based on luck - then you are sort of gambling i.e. no skill!
If it involves skill and luck ( first correct crossword out of the hat style) then you need skill and "gamble"!
If it pure skill - best article will be published, best slogan etc.- then "train" for that specific competition i.e. study writing or whatever you enter!!!

Good luck
