A little bookstore whose mailing list I'm on sent me a wonderful email back in March detaling the James Joyce drinking game. The rules are simple: Read a paragraph. If it didn't make sense, take a drink. Eventually, it'll all make sense... :D

Anyone have any similar drinking games based on books?

Or with Hemingway, you could drink every time he mentions alcohol. Although you'd probably be out cold within ten pages...

Ha ha! That's fantastic! I've never heard of such a thing.
I would recommend a game where you read any Vonnegut book and take a drink every time he uses the phrase "and so on."
Or a Hemmingway book where he repeats exactly what he just said but phrases it slightly differently. :)

something else you can do is what we call the name game...works with anything...just name people in books...first and last or first letter and last letter if one word name...can use authors or anything you want...one person starts with someones name for example: William Shakespeare...the next person will have to start with S and so on...if you cant guess within 5 sec drink...if someone gets a name that first and second start with the same letter...it reverses...its great enjoy...
