Didnt you know, women cant do anything with their mouth closed. Its a genetic defect.

Actually, women put on mascara with their mouth open to stretch their face out. Sounds weird, I know, but since I was a little girl every woman in my family always told told me "dont pull on your face it gives you wrinkles when youre older!" So when we open our mouths, it gives us a bigger space to work with, i guess. That and it prevents the mascara from making "tracks" on our eyelids.

It stretches out your face and opens up your eye area more, so you can put on the mascara without getting it on your upper lids.

opening your mouth also widens your eyes. Keeps you from getting the wet mascara in your eyes or on the skin around your eyes

haha...you know, i wonder that myself...whenever i put mascara on, i always open my mouth. i guess its just reflex. it also helps to open you eyes more...thats all I got.lol
