"Gloomy Sunday" is just supposed to have such gloomy lyrics and be so depressing that it makes people commit suidice. I don't think that's true at all. It's just the sort of thing that someone terribly depressed and thinking of suicide might listen to anyway.

It's true that the composer of the song committed suicide by jumping out a window, but that was 30 years after he wrote the song. Someone who could write such a morbid song would be the sort who might do that anyway.

Just listening to the song isn't going to make you committ suicide. I know it by heart - it's on one of my mom's Billy Holiday albums. Hasn't made me do anything like that.

I think it's just an urban legend. I can't imagine any song being so sad it would make a rational person kill themselves.
