Everyone is different, and what you put in is what you get out. What I found is that if I didn't pay attention in class or do a good job on my homework, I had to spend more time studding that subject. Usually anywhere from 1-3 hours.
My mother asked me one day, "what do you want to do with your life"? Do you want nice things, or do you want to live week to week hopping to make ends meet! She explained that without a good education I would be living week to week, and getting into debt. That made me think!
Spend the time now for your future. Take as long as "you" need to get "Great" grades, give your future the boost it needs.

You didn't ask how many hours people spend on watching TV, or on the computer, or phone; people make time for them no problem .
How do they help you financially in the future?
Why is it that we don't give time to our future?
Think about it that way.

i'm in an advanced high school program called IB, which is supposed to be harder than regular school with more homework, papers, tests, etc. but unless it's a HUGE test or project, probably less than an hour of studying a day.
