Yes, I do and I will tell you why. I was once one of the people who have the jobs that cause a person to struggle to get by. I remember those days vividly, (and not very fondly!) I remember the constant battle to buy gasoline, food, and pay for housing. It is so terrible when someone has to worry about how to pay rent or eat, and I just think that if everyone were more like us, we could end the poverty in our little part of the world. I think that money should be shared, and not horded onto like some selfish miser.
Who knows what that little three to ten dollar tip could do to better someone's life. You never know if you just bought them gas to get back to work the next day, or put a little something extra in their child's stomach. If it does make a big difference to them, then you know, they will remember to always use kindness with everyone else when they take a step up in the world.
I tip a ton of different kinds of people. I live in a tourist area, so there are a lot of different attractions and shows. I will tip concessions staff, bell boys, box office crew, grocery store people, pizza delivery drivers, cashiers, fast food workers, and anyone else that makes a difference in the quality of my life. And you are right, it does make their day.
Thanks to you for being someone with the same thoughts I have. You see, it makes my day just knowing that there is good people out there, and that it is not just me alone trying to make a difference.
P.S... a little note to Zenmaster5555. You should not tip for selfish reasons... try doing it to make a person happy!

Some people tip for everything, others never tip. The reason I tip is to create a relationship with the person serves me. This is expecially important for the people who serve me all the time. I would tip the gas station attendent because I know he is looking out for me, like if he notices that my rear light is out, my tire needs air or is extra careful not to spill gas on my car. Again, the best value from tipping if is to assure service for the future, rather than to pay the for services afterwards like a tax.
The waitress that knows you are a good tipper will be less likely to spit in your food, even on a bad day. If she doesnt know you at all, she may spit in your food and you would give her a tip anyway and never know. Tips insure future service and should not be thought of a a tax.

Other than waiters/waitresses, I tip for any salon service I get(hair done, nails done, pedicure, bikini wax, etc.), I tip at the gas station if they have someone out there to pump your gas, I tip at the grocery store if I have a ton of groceries and they help me out to the car, I tip the bartender when I go out to a bar, I tip at the automatic car wash on days when they have someone to spray and wash down your car before you enter the wash, I tip for carry out or delivery...pretty much anytime someone does an excellent job or goes out of their way!

I moved to Branson a couple of years ago and went to work at a hotel.I didn't know until then that you are suppose to tip your housekeeper.I would get close to $100 a day in tips.I know I had seen the little envelopes in hotel rooms I had stayed in but never thought anything about them. But now I know , soI always tip housekeepers now.You know most of those girls that do that are single mothers or older women that really need the money. So remember to tip your housekeepers!!!

I got a five dollar tip while working at a shoe store. They thought that it was a hassel for me to do my job. But I didn't complain, it was my last day there. And the funny thing is that it was my teachers, boyfriends, brother and father.

It's good to tip tow truck drivers and other roadside assistance professionals as well as bell boys, baggers at the grocery store when they take your groceries out to your car, etc.
