Hi I coach high school basketball. Here are the steps:

1. Balance yourself at the free throw line. Keep your feet shoulder-width apart and parallel to one another.

2. Point both feet and square your upper body toward the basket. Position your feet just behind the line; move one of your feet back an inch or two, if that's comfortable.
3. Hold the ball by using the hand of your non-shooting arm to support and cradle it lightly. Place the middle three fingers of your shooting hand on the seams of the ball, with your thumb and palm acting as supports.
4. Keep your shooting forearm straight, and avoid tilting it to one side. Try to keep the arm that will be releasing the ball oriented toward the basket.
5. Aim for a target just above the rim, and try not to shoot the ball short. A good target is the backboard shooting square drawn above the rim.
6. Bend your knees. An accurate shot doesn't rely on arm strength; it uses leg strength to propel the shooter upward.
7. Shoot in one fluid motion, straightening your knees to strengthen the shot and your arm to provide aim. Release the ball with your fingertips. This allows you more control over your shot and a softer arc because of the backspin you create.
8. Follow through by bending your shooting hand forward, as though you're reaching for the rim.

Practice, practice, practice

Okay...line up one foot a litle bit in front of the other at the line.Take a couple dribbles to get yourself in a rhythim.Place the middle three fingers of your shooting hand on the seams of the ball, with your thumb and palm acting as supports.Aim for the back of the rim. Then bend your knees your elbow and your wrist. After you shoot and KEEP a follow through watch the ball go through the net.

It takes alot of practice to be a consistent free throw shooter.

On a real bballl court, at the free throw line there is a small black dot exactly at the center of the hoop, if you righty put you right foot a little to the right of it, if lefty do the opposite, then shoot making sure you hand does a follow thru and put a spin on the ball by bending your wrist during the shot.

first put your dominant foot on the drill hole (the little hole in the middle of the free throw line)and then get your rythym down like mine is two dribbles then a deep breath and shoot

get a rythym down

do the same thing each time before you shoot (i.e. dribble twice before each shot)

line your strong foot (right if right-handed, left if left-handed) with the center of the rim

aim to shoot the ball at the back of the rim

follow through with your shooting arm after the shot

GOOD LUCK

im really good at theese,i did 10 in a row,no joke.just visualize you making the shot, take a deep breath, and also think your in practice free shooting all the time,if you dont you may feel pressure.once you are done doing this, bend down as far as you can, jump, and shoot. good luck. it may not work with you,but it sure does me.

juss practice i shot around 200 ft's a day
my ft% is around 85% b/c of that
all you do is keep your shot constant and try not to move your body to much b/c that changes your shot everytime you shot
use the same form and just practice

everyone has their own style. dribble the ball a couple of times or something, and when you know what to do before you shoot, do every time

of course there's practice. practice it and you will master it eventually. another thing is to always follow through, and shoot the ball, not push or anything like that.
