I've not watched much anime in a long time. But I'm interested in a certain kind. If you can name some that well match these requirements, please let me know them.
Very serious with little to no comic relief.
Animation that is not nasty, such as with overly think and lanky characters.
Not effiminate.
Dialog centered.
Loner, anti-hero main character.
Primarily focused on one or a few characters and not many.
Fantasy based.
Little to no science fiction elements.
Maturely written, meaning absent most cliches, and targetted towards adults.
Not a gore fest, but gritty.
Psychological: For example, the main character might have a drinking problem and we would see his struggle to overcome it.
Well choreographed battles.
I suppose that's enough.

I've seen Tri-Gun.
I've seen a bit of Naruto, too, and I'm not interested in it enough to watch it in full.

Miyu is good.
I should add that I prefer a dark to middle ages setting.

I've not seen everything listed so far. But, forgive me please, I absolutely hate One Piece, and have no interest in even seeing a subtitled version. Still, I thank all for their suggestions.
