im staying in a hotel for 169 a night for 3 nights...and i was wondering how much that REALLY is plus the tax

It is 5% [0.05] (five cents per dollar) because almost everything is taxed in this state. So it would cost you about an additional $25.35, in taxes, for all three nights. When adding the total amount up, that it should cost you about an estimated $532.35 or so, for all three nights.

It is 5% for everything except food and a few necessities like cheap clothing.
If you think that is bad look at your hotel bill in places that soak tourists like Seattle and Las Vegas.

Sales tax is 5%, but watch out for other taxes for hotels.
