to open a word document (file extension .doc) in a proper way, you will need "Microsoft office". It is a suite of software that mainly includes "excel", "powerpoint" and some others. You can buy it online, or in high street stores. I have to say that it is expensive. If you cannot buy it there is an alternative solution that is to download "open office". copy and paste the following link into your broser.

http://download.openoffice.org/1.1.5/index.html.

It will give you the main programs used with microsoft office and free.
Have fun.

If you don't have Microsoft Word on your machine, you can get a viewer from Microsoft's website. Here's a link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=95e24c87-8732-48d5-8689-ab826e7b8fdf&DisplayLang=en

Or, get a copy of Open Office at http://www.openoffice.org It's a free office suite that is highly compatible with Microsoft Office.
